IF I WERE

If I were to reveal these wild secrets
to you, what would you do with them?

Would you tuck them away in the
hidden nooks and crannies of your
memory or paste them in multicolored

scrapbooks to line your dusty bookshelves?

I must know what you will do with
these soft spoken treasures before
I part with them.

For you see, a few of these tales not told
have traveled secure with me through desert
drought and rainforest deluge.

No, certain enough none of these is worth
their weight in gold bullion or diamond carats.

Yet, as much as I long to impart these wisps
of wonder, I must be assured that you will
treat each of them with the respect they

have earned.

So, tell me now if I were to reveal to you
these wild secrets, what would you do?
What would you do?

No need to answer yet.
I will come back and when I do,

I will simply ask again what would you do?
Pray tell, what would you do?

“Death- the last sleep? No, it is the final awakening.”
Sir Walter Scott

We have arrived, you and I, at the hour of our own Grand Awakening. Quite literally, this is the time to choose between death and destruction versus life and the generative force within, without and all around us.

We have a choice to let those asleep stay asleep or to take decisive action to be a beacon of Awakening Light so that those ones who have chosen the path of sleep might see something shining on the horizon and hear a call to WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

In becoming LOVE in all we say and do, we model a new way of BEING and hope anew is arisen. We become progenitors of our own Grand Awakening and others cannot help but rub the sands of deep sleep from their own eyes and shout out loud, “Where I have I been? and What now? I am awake at last! Do you hear me? I am awake at last!

Come let us celebrate this GRAND AWAKENING together. Go and tell everyone the time has come. Go and LOVE in Wild Joy! The time has surely come at last. And we are so grateful.

Often, as I sit become still, different voices
arise to let me know again- that I am not alone
in the Sacred Silence.

This last time, a whole chorus of sang out just
above an ancient African tribal rhythm, as I leaned
into that space of knowing to see what I could

hear. Then, too wrapped up in celebration with
these celestial singers, I forgot to pay attention.

Only later, to be asked if I had remembered what
the words of their songs said as maybe there was
something of grand importance, a message perhaps

for me to hear at this right time, moment and place.

No, I had replied, I could not really remember anything,
except that rhythmic percussion calling me home.

Another sojourner proffered that the very intent
of the work I am about is this gathering of voices.

So, it is in the tuning of my ears to listen, to really
listen to the sounds settled beyond the Organ of Corti;
that I am gifted to perceive a bit of the imperceptible,

glimpse a grain of the elusive eternal Truth, and realize
a ration of rarified air saved for the very lucky ones.

When next I sit to seek refuge in the silence,
and a Gathering of Voices arises as they surely will,
I shall seek no reason or recompense- I will with

gratitude’s full heart, breath into the next breath

of movement to revel in their reveries and remember,
always remember the rhythm, the constant unyielding
rhythm…

Where in my life am I just killing time? Is each moment spent waiting for the next or is each lived as if it is the only moment available to me?

How I answer this question will determine all of my actions. The choice is whether I sling arrows of misfortune toward eternity or take the next breath into now and plant the seeds of each moment and the next. Then, I step back and watch the wildflowers bloom!

“What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.”
Crowfoot

Like the little shadow, since the first moment of breath, we begin to lose our way bit by bit, forgetting the revelation inherent in the many sunsets,

In each breath is the answer to our seeking. When we look out there beyond breath, we become lost in appearance and imagination
of what is and what is supposed to be. Within our own breath exists every possibility- even that which we call impossible. So, begin this day with one slow in breath, which contains everything, and one slow out breath which releases all.
